What is Maptic Nursing?
Maptic Nursing is a private senior care guidance and education practice for San Fernando Valley families caring for an aging parent. It is led by Tammi Harris, a board certified gerontological nurse practitioner with 23 years of experience. Think of it as a watchful eye with a bird’s eye view: an expert who sees the whole picture, reads where things are heading, and advises your family on the next best steps.
Are you my loved one’s doctor? Will you replace their physician?
No. Maptic Nursing does not replace your loved one’s physician or take over their medical treatment. The practice is advisory and educational. Tammi gives your family and expert read of the whole situation and clear guidance on what to do next, working alongside your loved one’s existing medical team, not in place of it.
Do you provide medical or emergency care?
No. Maptic Nursing is not an emergency or after hours clinical service, and it does not provide hands on medical treatment. It provides guidance, education, and coordination within the registered nursing scope of practice. In an emergency, always call 911 first.
What is the Maptic Care Map?
The Maptic Care Map is the clear, always current brief Tammi hands your family. In one to two pages it connects the three parts of care that usually never talk to each other, the medical team, the people providing the daily care, and your family’s goals, and it answers what is going on, what to watch for, what to do next, and who to call. It always ends on the road ahead.
What is the difference between Maptic Nursing and a geriatric care manager?
Both help families with an aging loved one, but they play different roles. A geriatric care manager is usually a hands on coordinator who arranges and supervises the day to day care, and care managers come from a range of backgrounds such as social work, gerontology psychology, or nursing. Maptic Nursing is the expert clinical eye above it all: it is led by a doctorally prepared, board certified gerontological nurse practitioner, and it gives your family one objective clinical read of what is happening and advises you on the next best steps, in writing through the Maptic Care Map. You stay in control of the doing.
Maptic Nursing is advisory: it does not run or sell the services it recommends, its job is to give you clarity on your loved one’s clinical picture and advise you on the next best steps. It is built around the highest level of clinical training in this space, a doctorally prepared gerontological nurse practitioner. And it offers a clinical service a geriatric care manager cannot, completing the Medical Assessment for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (LIC 602A form).
If you want someone to coordinate day to day care, coordinate appointments, assist with housing and placement, and serve as a liaison then a geriatric care manager may be the right fit. If you want the clearest possible clinical picture and expert direction you can trust, that is Maptic Nursing.

Does Maptic Nursing accept long term care insurance?
Maptic Nursing is private pay, and payment is made directly to Maptic Nursing. That said, many long-term care insurance policies reimburse families for care coordination and consulting services like these. Here is how it works: you pay Maptic Nursing in full at the time of service, and you receive itemized documentation of the services and your payment, prepared in the format a long term care insurer expects. You then submit that documentation to your insurance company for possible reimbursement under your policy. Reimbursement is between you and your insurer and is not guaranteed, since coverage depends on your specific policy, so it is worth checking your benefits before you begin.
Can I pay for Maptic Nursing using funds from a trust?
Yes. You can pay using funds from a trust, as long as payment is made in a form Maptic Nursing can accept, such as a check or electronic transfer, and the full amount is received at or before the time services are rendered.
